Islamabad – Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced on Thursday that internet services in the country are now fully operational following the complete restoration of the Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) undersea cable.
The AAE-1, a 25,000-kilometer submarine cable system, connects regions across Asia, Africa, and Europe, including Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy, and France.
Throughout 2024, internet users in Pakistan faced persistent connectivity issues and slower network speeds. PTCL identified the source of the disruptions as a fault in the AAE-1 cable, which impacted internet services across the country. On January 3, PTCL assured users that its teams were working diligently to resolve the issue.
The successful repair of the AAE-1 cable has restored internet connectivity to normal levels, bringing relief to millions of users nationwide. PTCL expressed gratitude for users’ patience during the repair process and reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable internet services.
